Bahrain EB-GP Review

Unforgetable season opener was held on Saturday at Bahrain international ciruit. Round 1 of 15 in new Season 2 of EB Formula series, would be something all drivers participating will probably wont forget. 11 drivers were welcomed and ready in desert of Sakhir for Qualifying. Few favorites were named before start of sesion, but no one knew how thight the field will be.

Qualifying

Format of qualifying was simple: Avarage of best 2 laps will determine your starting position for race 1. The Porsche driver Magdalena Juzova went fastest, proving her favorite spot earned in open practice from ongoing week before race. She bacame only driver to go under 23 seconds in whole weekend claiming pole and extra point in championship. 2nd place was claimed

Everyone was proved later that starting from front row is significant advantage as you are able to run away from chaos that can erupt in midfield.

Race 1

Race 1 started with chaos already from get go, Slavyan Stoichev jumped the start and went into back of Daniel Klepal who then smashed into Václav Karásek who was stuck in map and forced to retire from weekend. Porsche stromed in lead going side by side with Opel of Emre Dündar. Chaos came in moments later, as Matěj Juřica crashed with BMW of Georgi Illiev, for which he was awarded 5 second penalty which took his podium finish later. As we got into turn 3 Magdalena Juzova tried to go from outside on Dündar for lead and the two colided, Emre lost many positions. At this moment Ford emerged in 2nd and 3rd young duo of 13 year olds in their competetive debut could do finish of their lives. Their pace was not fast and they lost their positions very quickly. Later Renault of Štěpán Veselý and BMW of Georgi Illiev closed gap on Richard Vesely and both got past but Richard didnt gave up and did daring move on both into turn 1 getting past them. Magdalena Juzova came as winner of race 1 with 25 second gap to Stepan Vesely claiming 2nd and Emre Dündar in 3rd. Race 1 showed incredible show and everyone was ready for chaos of reverse grid in race 2.

Race 2

Race 2 was another master class, chaos into turn 1 caught up race 1 winner who had horifying performance in race 2 finishing in 9th place. Meanwhile Emre Dündar who stated from 8th and was leading after turn 4. and went on to win the race. Second place was claimed by Matěj Juřica in Škoda. 3rd was claimed by Volkswagen of Jaroslav Václav. And great performances of Ford who claimed 1st place in Manufacture championship. Emre Dündar went on to claim Top spot in drivers championship. Magdalena Juzova is 5 points behind in 2nd and Matej Jurica is 3rd with 20 points.
